A fun engaging course providing basics for communication with British Sign Language (BSL) users.

- People who work with colleagues who are Deaf BSL Users
Learning outcomes
On completion of this course learners will be able to:
- Produce the BSL alphabet and ‘read’ simple words back in BSL
- Sign a wide range of basic BSL phrases and questions and be able to use them and ‘read’ them back
- Understand and sign, signs and phrases relevant to your area of work
Have a good understanding of:
- What BSL is and who uses it
- The distinction between deaf and Deaf
- The Deaf community who use BSL as their first or preferred language
- What equipment can help some Deaf/deaf people
- What professionals support Deaf/deaf people
- How Deaf etiquette differs from hearing etiquette
