Sunsurfer offer a range of accredited Mental Health training courses that can be delivered face to face or online:

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England

Adult Mental Health First Aid (England)

This 2 day course is accredited by Mental Health First Aid England.  It will give you the skills to support colleagues, clients, family or friends should a mental health issue or crisis arise.

Mental Health First Aid (England) Refresher

This four hour course is for Mental Health First Aiders or MHFA Champions.  Like Physical First Aid, Mental Health First Aid training needs to be up to date.

Scotland's Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA)

Scotland's Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA)

This 12 hour course is accredited by SMHFA Scotland. SMHFA is always delivered face to face. It will give you the skills and confidence to understand and support different mental health challenges.

First Aid for Mental Health (FAMH) Awards

We deliver First Aid for Mental Health courses designed by First Aid Awards (FAA) and accredited by Ofqual (England) and SQA (Scotland).  These courses range from 4 hour Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health, to full 2 day First Aid for Mental Health (Supervising/Leading).

Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health

This 4-hour course, introduces learners to mental health and provides the knowledge to:

  • Recognise a range of mental health conditions
  • Start a supportive conversation

First Aid for Mental Health

Learners completing this one day course will become a ‘First Aider for Mental Health'. Their new mental health skills can be used within their workplace and private life. They will learn how to:

  • Recognise mental health conditions
  • Start a supportive conversation
  • Signpost a person to appropriate professional help
  • Recognise and manage stress

First Aid for Youth Mental Health

Learners completing this one day course will become a ‘First Aider for Youth Mental Health.’ They will learn how to:

  • Recognise a range of mental health conditions in young people
  • Start a supportive conversation and provide reassurance and support
  • Signpost a young person to seek appropriate professional help

First Aid for Mental Health Supervising/Leading

This 2-Day course goes into detail on a wide range of mental health conditions and the support provided by healthcare professionals. It covers the content of Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health (Level 1/3) and First Aid for Mental Health (Level 2/5).   This course is aimed at Trainers and Assessors and/or those at supervisor level within the workplace.

First Aiders for Mental Health Annual Refresher

This 3-hour course is designed for First Aiders for Mental Health to refresh their skills and knowledge and to stay up to date with current events. The course covers key topics from the regulated First Aid for Mental Health qualifications.
